Africa-Press – Ghana. Mr Thomas Maswud Ayarba, the Atebubu/Amantin Municipal Chief Executive in the Bono East Region, has urged commercial drivers in the area to rescind their decision and return to work.
He said the Assembly was collaborating with the various transport unions in the area, to ensure that stable lorry fares were fixed for the benefit of the drivers and passengers.
Some aggrieved drivers in the municipality laid down their tools, demanding upward adjustment in lorry fares.
During a visit, noticed that scores of passengers had been left stranded at the Atebubu lorry station.
In an interview, Mr Ayarba said the Assembly remained sensitive to the plight of the drivers and gave the assurance that the problem would be tackled.
Some of the drivers urged the government to do something about the high cost of spare parts and vehicle tyres, which were affecting their economic activities.
