Africa-Press – Ghana. The Ghana Cricket Association (GCA) has concluded a 12-day class-based intro and coaching clinic at Achimota School, engaging over 1,705 students in its quest to develop the sport.
The program, which commenced on Monday, August 11, 2025, aimed to introduce students to the fundamentals of cricket, develop passion among young participants and identify emerging talents.
The initiative forms part of the GCA’s broader efforts to grow the sport nationwide and strengthen the development of cricket infrastructure nationwide.
Some of Ghana’s top cricket coaches led the students through key aspects of the game, including batting, bowling, and fielding techniques.
As part of growing students’ interest in the sport, the Achimota Cricket Oval has undergone significant upgrades, including the construction of turf wickets, a departure from the traditional astroturf pitches used in Ghanaian cricket.
