Oti Regional Minister Initiates Land Acquisition for Barracks

Africa-Press – Ghana. The Oti Regional Minister, Mr. John Kojo Gyapong, has begun formal processes to secure land for the construction of a military barracks in the Oti Region.

In this connection, Mr Gyapong paid a courtesy call on Nana Dasebre Atamafuwiese Bonja II, Overlord of the Chonke Traditional Area, to advance earlier discussions held on the proposed project.

The visit forms part of ongoing efforts by government to establish military installations in regions without such facilities.

The Minister, accompanied by a team of surveyors, later visited the designated site for the project in the regional capital, Dambai.

The technical team is expected to spend the week conducting detailed surveys and assessments required to pave the way for the commencement of construction.

Briefing Nana Daasebre and his elders, Mr Gyapong said the initiative aligned with the President’s vision to strengthen national security architecture while promoting regional development.

He noted that the Oti Region had been identified as one of the priority areas for the establishment of a military base.

The Minister expressed gratitude to Nana Daasebre and the traditional council for their warm reception and continued support, stressing that their cooperation was vital to the realization of the project.

The establishment of the military barracks is expected to bolster security operations, create employment opportunities, and stimulate socio-economic growth in the region.
