Africa-Press – Ghana. Mr Stephen Aidoo, the Techiman Municipal Director of Agriculture has lauded the 2026 budget, saying the construction of the agro-processing factories, as contained in the fiscal statement will improve the income of farmers.
Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, the Minister of Finance, announced the construction of seven agro-processing factories nationwide, when he presented the 2026 budget statement in Parliament Thursday, November 13, 2025.
Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Mr Aidoo said the establishment of the factories would make the agribusiness more attractive for the youth to engage in commercial farming.
He commended the government and expressed the hope that the proposed establishment of a cashew factory in the Bono East would become a reality, saying the cashew factory to add value to raw cashew and improve the earnings of cashew farmers and thereby spur rapid socio-economic growth and development.
In a related interview, the Reverend Father Albert Kyei Danso, the Chaplain at the Holy Family Ghanaian Catholic Community Church in Italy also lauded the provisions in the budget statement.
He said with the content of the budget more job opportunities would be created for the youth, saying the agriculture sector could absorb a greater percentage of the unemployed youth.
Rev. Fr. Danso called on the government to do more in modernising the agriculture sector for job creation and improving national food security.
He said the nation ought to invest more and shift from the traditional way of farming to technology, making modern machines and inputs readily available to farmers as well as constructing more irrigation facilities.
Rev. Fr. Danso said with modernised agriculture, the nation could produce more and cut its annual imports of food items.
