Africa-Press – Ghana. Asante Kotoko SC defeated Bibiani Gold Stars 1-0 to win the 2025 ‘Champion of Champions’ championship at Dun’s Park on Sunday.

The Porcupine Warriors won a thrilling game against the defending Ghana Premier League champions, with Hamzata Musah scoring the only goal.

The Porcupine Warriors were eager to bounce back from a poor Top 4 tournament, with head coach Karim Zito under intense pressure from fans.

GoldStars were very impressive in the early stages, creating numerous opportunities.

Appiah McCarthy’s well-taken free kick drew a strong save from Kotoko goalkeeper Mohammed Camara before Atta Kumi was denied by a last-ditch clearance from defender Shaybu Abubakar.

Kotoko striker Albert Amoah nearly broke the deadlock when his powerful header forced GoldStars’ shot-stopper Emmanuel Kobi into a brilliant save.

The decisive moment arrived in the 70th minute when substitute Hamzata Musah, who had only recently been introduced, latched onto a pinpoint delivery from Seth Kwadwo.

Kotoko held on to win the match despite the late surge of pressure from Gold Stars.

With this win, Kotoko have now lifted the ‘Champion of Champions’ trophy four times, having done so in 1977, 2012, 2013, and 2014.

This win for Kotoko would certainly motivate them ahead of the 2025-2026 football season and also the CAF Confederations Cup campaign which would begin later in September.
