Africa-Press – Ghana. Alhaji Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, Member of Parliament for Asawase, together with Mr Ben Abdullah Alhassan, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Asokore-Mampong on Tuesday, inaugurated two multi-purpose sports arenas for the area.
The projects, which were the initiative of the MP aim to promote talent development, enhance sports infrastructure, and provide recreational opportunities for the youth in the area.
The inauguration of the Middle ‘B’ Astroturf and Highlanders Park are the most significant monuments in terms of sports infrastructure in the history of the Asawase constituency.
Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak, who is also the Minister for the Interior, speaking at the ceremony noted that, sports was a unifying and developmental tool, adding that, the facilities would serve as a hub for nurturing young talents in football and other sporting disciplines.
He reiterated his commitment to the development of the Asawase and promised that, he was ready to work to ensure that the constituency received its fair share of the national development cake.
The MP highlighted several projects he had initiated or facilitated under his tenure as MP in the area.
They included schools, markets, and scholarships amongst others.
Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak said managing the sports facilities was dear to his heart and urged all who, would be in charge of the facilities, especially, the assembly member, to cultivate the culture of maintenance, to protect the facilities.
The MP in addition presented some sport kits to the management teams of the facilities.
In attendance were chiefs and elders of the area, members NPP and NDC, footballers, coaches, sports enthusiasts, schoolchildren and others.
In a friendly match played between members of the NDC and NPP in the area at middle ‘B’ park, the NPP beat the NDC 4- 3 on penalties.
In the second friendly match at the Highlander Astroturf, the NDC won, with MP scoring, the goal on spot kick.
Both Astroturf were constructed by Excel Fortune Company Limited, a construction company based in Kumasi.
