Africa-Press – Ghana. The Ashanti regional office of the Public Utilities and Regulatory Commission (PURC) has commended the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and Ghana Water Limited (GWL) for their cooperation, regulatory compliance and improved service delivery in the region.
The regulatory compliance and cooperation, according to the Commission has resulted in the resolution of most of the complaints filed by customers in the region.
Mr. Edward Kingston Boduah, Ashanti Regional Manager of PURC, gave the commendation at a weeklong settlement meeting with stakeholders and representatives of the utility companies.
The complaints, which were mainly billing-related issues, afforded the Commission an opportunity to interact with stakeholders and consumers and find ways to address some of their concerns.
Mr Boduah said PURC appreciated the efforts of the utility companies to improve service delivery and urged them to make plans to attend to consumer issues during the festive season.
“You must continue to work hard during this time to make it joyous for consumers,” he said.
He called on consumers to honor their monthly bills and avoid illegal connections.
In a related development, PURC also engaged Ashanti regional Cocobod Pensioners Association as part of its public education efforts.
The pensioners were educated on the establishment of PURC, meter acquisition process and guidelines on capital contribution.
The pensioners were advised to contact PURC for assistance anytime they faced challenges with utilities.
