Africa-Press – Ghana. Mr Edward Doe Adade, the assembly member for Tatorme Fiato Electoral Area in the Akatsi South Municipality, has organised a clean-up exercise to ensure good hygiene practices within his area.
The exercise brought together officers from the Akatsi Police Command, Municipal Assembly staff, ECG staff, Environmental Health officials, decentralised departments, private sector entities, and residents in Akatsi.
Prior to the exercise, Mr Adade, in an interview said the initiative aimed at ensuring a well cleaned and healthy environment for his electorates.
He explained that good hygiene and sanitation practices positioned every community on a path of growth “because the people will have sound minds to face their daily businesses.”
Mr Adade emphasised that recalcitrant individuals and businesses that failed to comply with sanitation directives would face the established laws against non-compliance.
The morning exercise that lasted for hours saw the clearing of bushes, distilling of choked gutters, removal of stagnant waste materials, and others.
There were also free National Health Insurance registration and card issuance for residents as well as free medical screening and medication for all residents during the exercise.
Mr Adade extended his gratitude to all stakeholders and called for regular clean up exercises within all Electoral Areas in the Municipality for a healthy living.
Residents and some Assembly Members commended the organisers of the exercise and called for continuous support to sustain it.
