Avenor Traditional Council Offers Condolences for Air Crash

Africa-Press – Ghana. The Avenor Traditional Council, led by His Royal Majesty Togbe Dorglo Anumah VI, Paramount Chief of Avenor Traditional Area and President of Avenor Traditional Council, in the Akatsi South Municipality of the Volta Region, has extended heartfelt condolences to the President and people of Ghana following a tragic helicopter accident that occurred on August 6, 2025.

The accident resulted in the loss of eight prominent citizens who were at the peak of their careers and lives including Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, Minister of Defense and Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammad, Minister of Environment, Science and Technology.

The Avenor Traditional Council in a press release signed by the Paramount Chief, and copied to the Ghana News Agency, described the demise as a “tremendous loss” to the communities, families, and the nation at large.

The traditional council with deep sorrow mourns with the bereaved families and the government of Ghana and stated that the council would stand with bereaved in grief and remembrance, considering the deceased as “martyrs in service to their nation.”

“The Avenor Traditional Council hope that the legacy of these great men will inspire future generations to continue their work of service, unity, and nation-building,” he stated.

The council also offers thoughts and prayers to the families and communities affected by the tragedy, calling on God to shield the nation from future mishaps and grant eternal rest to the departed souls.

The release also stated that the victims were not only individuals of remarkable achievement and service, but also pillars of their communities, whose dedication, leadership and selflessness contributed to the progress and well-being of the nation.

“The passing has left a void that will be deeply felt across the country and beyond its borders.”

“May the outpouring of sympathy from around the nation be a source of comfort to every bereaved family and to the nation as a whole.”

They also prayed that the Almighty God grant the departed souls an external rest and strength to all who mourned them.

Other victims of the tragic helicopter accident were Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna, acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, Dr. Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and former Ashanti Regional Minister.

The rest were Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Mane-Twum Ampadu and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah, and Engineer.

State funeral would be held for the victims on Friday, August 15, in the honour of the victims.
