Africa-Press – Ghana. Mr Eric Opong, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Biakoye District of the Oti Region has initiated a series of engagements with traditional councils in the district, to foster collaboration between the Assembly and traditional authorities to enhance development.

The first phase of the engagement covered four traditional areas, including WoraWora and Tapa Traditional Councils.

At the WoraWora Traditional Council, Nana Awerewa III, the Paramount Queenmother, highlighted pressing challenges which included, inadequate access to portable water, youth unemployment leading to gross indiscipline among them, poor road networks, sanitation issues, deteriorating Tapa Abotoase market, and the need for upgrading Tapa Abotoase clinic.

In response and vision, the DCE assured the traditional leaders that the government was committed to addressing these concerns.

Mr Opong outlined his vision for the district, focusing on education, health, agriculture, sanitation, and revenue mobilisation.

He seized the opportunity to commend Madam Jean Marie Formadi, the Member of Parliament, for her continued support towards the district’s development agenda.

He also urged traditional authorities to make land available for development projects, particularly the redevelopment of the Abotoase market into a modern facility.
