Africa-Press – Ghana. Ghanaian Millennium Chef Ebenezer Smith has announced himself as the new Guinness World Record holder for the longest cooking marathon by an individual.

This feat is yet to be confirmed by Guinness World Record.

Chef Ebenezer Smith began his cook-a-thon on February 1 with the aim of surpassing the current record.

A post on his Facebook page hinted about the announcement of his achievement via a press conference on Tuesday, July 2, 2024.

Speaking at the news conference today, July 2, Chef Smith said, “I am deeply humbled and honored to announce that I am now the new world record holder for the cook-a-thon”.

The inscription on his Guinness World Record certificate, displayed during the event, reads: “The longest cooking marathon (individual) is 802 hours 25 minutes and was achieved by Ebenezer Smith (Ghanaian) in Spintex, Accra, Ghana. From 1 February to 6 March, 2024.”

The citation indicates that Chef Smith was accorded the record with a time of 802 hours and 25 minutes.

If confirmed, he would take over the record from the current holder Irishman Alan Fisher who cooked for 119 hours and 57 minutes.
