Africa-Press – Ghana. Head Coach of Accra Hearts of Oak, Mas-ud Didi Dramani, has praised his players for their effort and commitment despite their 1-0 defeat to Asante Kotoko in Sunday’s Ghana Premier League clash.

In what was billed as another classic edition of Ghana’s football “Super Clash,” Hearts of Oak put up a spirited performance but failed to secure the desired result.

Speaking after the game, Coach Dramani described the encounter as a close and competitive match, reflecting the quality and intensity of the long-standing rivalry between the two clubs.

He said, “I think it was a very tight game and a very close encounter, and that’s what you would expect from a match of this nature.”

He added that Kotoko showed strength in their transitional play.

Coach Dramani admitted it was not the outcome they wanted but said the team learned a lot from the game. He noted that both sides demonstrated the true Ghanaian football tradition and that the experience provided valuable lessons for his squad.

He said, “The two teams showed the clear Ghanaian tradition of the game and the version of our rivalry, the so-called Super Clash.”

Commenting on the last-minute offside goal, he said, “The referee is the moderator of the game, and we might not always agree with every interpretation.”

He added that the team would continue to play and make the right decisions in key moments.

Coach Dramani acknowledged that his team made some mistakes, particularly in possession, but said such errors were part of the sport and offered opportunities for growth.

He said, “Errors are part of the sport; sometimes when you lose the ball, you also lose space, momentum and energy. We just need to take better care of the ball in key moments.”

He noted that in the first half, Hearts lost possession and lacked concentration, which allowed Kotoko to take advantage.

He emphasised the importance of decision-making and game intelligence, adding that Hearts would focus on improving their tactical awareness going forward.

He said, “We want to play a cognitive game, to solve problems on the field, make the right decisions and have a clear perception of what is in front of us. Mistakes are part of the game, but we must continue to learn and improve.”

Despite the defeat, Coach Dramani expressed optimism about Hearts of Oak’s progress in the league and said the team would bounce back stronger in subsequent matches.
