Africa-Press – Ghana. Mr Daniel Krull, the German Ambassador, has paid glowing tribute to the people of Ghana for their support as he bids farewell to the country after four years of service, dedication and friendship.
In a poetic message titled: “Burger Must Go,” he reflected on the deep cultural connections and fruitful collaborations forged between Germany and Ghana, whilst applauding the warmth, resilience and hospitality of the Ghanaian people during a predeparture concert at the weekend.
A native of Hamburg, Germany, Mr Krull encapsulated his enviable experiences, wishes and thoughts in a stage performance that depicted the classic Ghanaian “Burger-Highlife” musicians that journeyed to Hamburg in the 1980s.
Speaking during the celebration of the 836th Anniversary of the Port of Hamburg at his residence, he lauded the spirit of cooperation he experienced throughout his tenure, commending Ghanaians for their commitment to peace, democracy and innovation.
With his next destination being Nigeria, the Ambassador said: “Burger Must Go, a time to look ahead. I have received indications that I might stay in the region. I might be sent to a bigger country.”
“A country bigger than beautiful Ghana with many highly energetic, dynamic and ambitious people, a country where the people claimed their jollof is better than Ghana’s jollof.”
“You Ghanaians are the reason I am so delighted to look forward to the next posting on the African Continent. Thank you so much. Ghana, you became my gateway to Africa, African culture, music, arts and cuisines.”
“…Though our story is coming to an end and it is time to look back, I am very grateful to all Ghanaians for receiving me warmly and helping me to find answers to many questions I had and raised since I arrived in Ghana four years ago.”
The Anniversary celebration brought together government officials, members of the Diplomatic Corp, business community, academia, development partners, German nationals and private sector players who danced to the night’s soothing music while sipping their wine and beer.
Key amongst the artists who performed and electrified the night were Souly Bird, Okyeame Kwame, Kofi Kinaata and legendary DJ, Andy Dosty, whose burger Highlife selections saw the Ambassador and his guests on their feet for a long while, dancing their hearts out.
