Africa-Press – Ghana. The Black Stars of Ghana finished their 2026 World Cup qualification campaign with a 1-0 victory over Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday evening.

A second half strike from star boy Mohammed Kudus was enough to seal victory for the Black Stars who would be making their fifth World Cup appearance in USA, Canada and Mexico.

The Black Stars of Ghana topped Group I with 25 points, while Madagascar finished in second place with 19 points. Mali finished third with 18 points; Comoros were fourth with 15 points. The Central African Republic had eight points, while Chad finished bottom with one point.

Coach Otto Addo made some changes to the side that secured a 5-0 victory over the Central African Republic. Alidu Seidu and Ebenezer Annan returned to the starting line-up with Gideon Mensah and Caleb Yirenkyi benched.

It was an exciting start to the match by the Black Stars, with home fans cheering them on as the away side were put under relentless pressure right from the middle.

Comoros goalkeeper Anzimati Aboudou did come up with some brilliant saves when it mattered most to keep the game scoreless going into halftime.

The Black Stars started the second half on the front foot and deservedly went ahead in the 47th minute when Kudus tapped home from close range.

Ghana was in cruise control of the match, with Comoros unable to test goalkeeper Benjamin Asare, who was having a field day.

Despite the late surge of pressure to get the equaliser, Comoros couldn’t capitalise on some half chances as Ghana held on to secure all three points.

After securing qualification, the Black Stars of Ghana would know the group opponents on December 5, 2025, when the draw would take place at the John F. Kennedy Centre for Performing Arts in Washington, USA.
