Africa-Press – Ghana. Mrs Gifty Nyarko, the Head of Physical Planning Department of the Sunyani West Municipal Assembly has been honoured the “most outstanding personality in urban and regional planning” in the country.
She was recognized and honoured at the 2025 edition of the ‘Ghana Outstanding Community leadership” Awards organized by the Business Executive Group in Accra.
The organisers also honoured the Sunyani West Municipal Assembly for regulatory compliance, participatory development, and innovative urban planning.
In an interview at Odomase, the Municipal capital, Mrs Nyarko said: “I was recognized and celebrated for my visionary leadership and courageous contributions to spatial planning in Ghana”.
“Our goal at the Assembly is not just about granting building permits and the planning, but about building spaces where people can live with dignity”, she stated.
With more than a decade of professional planning experience, Mrs Nyarko said she had served at both Regional and Municipal levels, leading projects in land governance, spatial planning, and sustainable development.
She is the National Interim President of the Local Government Service Association of Physical Planners (LoGSAPP).
