Africa-Press – Ghana. Mr Francis Owusu Antwi, the Bono East Regional Minister, has reiterated the government’s commitment to resume construction work on the ‘Agenda 111’ District Hospital projects in the region, initiated by the previous administration.
Besides, he said construction work on abandoned educational projects would also be resumed and completed for use.
Mr Antwi said the people required those projects to better their lives, saying plans were far advanced to ensure that work on those projects in the region were executed.
The Regional Minister gave assurance when he inspected levels of work on the construction of the Agenda 111 district hospital and other education projects at Kajaji in the Sene East
constituency to commence his five-day working visits in the region.
Mr Antwi said the government had prioritized education, health, agriculture and road infrastructure for economic development and would ensure that all abandoned projects in those sectors were completed.
On completion, the regional minister noted that the Agenda 111 District hospitals would enhance access and bring quality healthcare delivery to the door-step of the people.
Mr Antwi said since the region had no standard hospital, there was the need for the government to complete the Agenda 111 district hospitals in the region.
He said construction work on a-2500 seating-capacity dining hall and a standard kitchen would commence very soon for the Bassa Community Day School, saying a two-storey dormitory would also be constructed for the Kajaji Technical Institute.
Mr Antwi said the implementation of the government’s Feed Ghana initiative would commence in the region very soon and to create employment opportunities for the youth and also improve food productivity.
He said the government would soon construct farmer service centers to train farmers to adopt new agricultural techniques that would help them improve food productivity, saying factories would also be constructed across the region for the commencement of the 24-hour economy.
Touching on the road network, the Regional Minister assured that contractors would soon move to site for the construction of the Atebubu-Kwame-Danso-Kajaji road project.
At Bassa, Nana Sekyi Owusu, the Paramount Chief of the Bassa Traditional Area and the President of the Bono East Regional House of Chiefs said the district required standard health facilities to meet the growing health demand needs of the people.
Interacting with some chiefs at Kwame Danso, Nana Okofrobour Awase Afuri II, the Paramount Chief of the Dwan Traditional Area expressed concern about poor security in the area contributing to rise in armed robbery incidents.
He called on the government to improve the lighting systems by extending electricity to deprived communities.
Nana Afuri II also called on the government to set up a tertiary institution in the area to improve education and appealed for the upgrade of the District Hospital.
Mr Twumasi Ampofo, the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Sene West Constituency, said plans were advanced for the construction of a Nursing Training College in the area and urged the people to support the implementation of government policies and programmes.
