Africa-Press – Ghana. The newly-inaugurated Council of Catholic Professional Guilds (CPG) has pledged to uphold integrity in service and contribute to national development.
The ceremony, at the St. Bakhita Catholic Church at Lashibi in Accra, brought together members of the clergy, parishioners and professionals from diverse backgrounds.
The Most Rev. John Kobina Louis, Auxiliary Bishop of Accra, urged the new leaders to serve with passion, encouraging the Church community to support the Association.
The group comprises the Accra Chapter of the Catholic Association of Media Practitioners, Ghana (CAMP-G), the Catholic Health Professionals Guild (CATHPROG), the Association of Catholic Teachers Guild (ACT), and the Business, Management & Finance Guild (BMF).
They join a wider network of professional bodies in disciplines such as law, education, sports, IT, agribusiness, hospitality, creative arts, and security.
Mr Samuel Benedict Kwaku Nugblega, Chairman of the new Council, described the inauguration as “a renewal of purpose and a recommitment to a shared mission.”
He said the Council would strive to build “a united, faith-driven community that reflects Catholic values in both professional and personal life.”
“I salute the outgoing leadership and all who have served before us for their tireless dedication. You have laid a strong foundation of faith, values, and service.”
“Now, with humility and determination, we take up the mantle and promise to build on it – guided by the Holy Spirit and the teachings of our Church.”
Mr Nugblega said he planned to champion continuous mentoring, prioritise members’ welfare, professional development, and mobilise resources for community development.
“The Council’s vision cannot be achieved by its executives alone but requires the commitment of the clergy, professionals, and the wider Catholic community,” he added.
The Chairman described the inauguaration as a significant step in mobilising Catholic expertise to contribute to Church growth, national discourse and policy direction.
“By combining professional skills with faith and ethical leadership, the new Council positions itself as a strong moral voice within Ghana’s professional and civic landscape.”
