Hamburg set to offload Ghanaian attacker Aaron Opoku

Africa-Press – Ghana. Ghanaian forward Aaron Opoku may have played his final game for Hamburg this weekend against Darmstadt. The 23-year-old was shown a straight red card after coming off the bench as a substitute as Hamburg lost 2-1 against Darmstadt.

Opoku is reported to have kicked his opponent with some force resulting in his marching orders in the game. The forward is likely to get further sanctions from the Football Association for assault.

Opoku was criticized and blamed for the defeat after failing to control his emotions. According to reports, Opoku is likely to leave the club as Coach Tim Walter is said to have more options at the flanks.

The Ghanaian has fallen down the pecking order and is not in the plans of Coach Tim Walter this season. Hamburg are open to offers for Aaron Opoku but his impeding sanctions following the red-card incident may hindered his movement in this window.

Local news reports also indicates that teams in the lower divisions have expressed interest in signing the attacker. Opoku is still under contract until 2024.
