Africa-Press – Ghana. The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts has stressed the need for strict compliance with laws governing the commercial use of national symbols and monuments.
It said permits and the payment of applicable fees were mandatory to safeguard Ghana’s heritage and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
Madam Abla Dzifa Gomashie, the sector Minister, said this when Ms Michelle Attoh, a veteran actress and Marketing Director of Emerge Ghana, paid a courtesy call on the Ministry to propose a collaborative heritage tourism and premium gifting initiative.
Ms Attoh presented a concept to position her company as an officially endorsed premium gifting service provider for the Ministry.
The proposal seeks to produce curated gift packs featuring replicas of Ghana’s iconic monuments in glass and wood, to be distributed at key tourism points, including airports, selected hotels and major tourist sites, to enhance visitor experience.
She said Emerge Ghana had operated for nearly two and a half years and had previously provided services to institutions such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Presidential Protocol Office.
Ms Attoh explained that the initiative would not require financial support from the Ministry, as proceeds from sales would be used to establish a Heritage Tourism Fund to support the rehabilitation and improvement of tourism sites across the country.
Responding, Madam Gomashie welcomed the proposal, describing it as an exciting initiative, but emphasised the need for formal institutional processes.
She said proper documentation within the Ministry’s structures would protect the initiative, ensure continuity and preserve institutional memory, especially in the event of changes in leadership.
The Minister noted that a structured partnership would enable future leadership to track progress while ensuring that all activities involving national symbols and monuments complied fully with existing legal and regulatory frameworks.
The engagement signals a potential public-private collaboration to promote Ghana’s heritage, strengthen tourism offerings and support sustainable cultural development through innovative enterprise.
