Kennedy Agyapong Urges Students to Embrace Digitalization

Africa-Press – Ghana. Mr Kennedy Agyapong, a Businessman and a former MP for Assin Central Constituency, has urged students to take advantage of digitalization to promote their innovative ideas.

He called on the students to think beyond traditional career paths and leverage the vast opportunities the digital age presented.

Mr Agyapong was speaking at the 2025 Student-Industry Conference on the theme: ” The Creative Minds in Digitalace: Students Professional Identity.”

The Conference is to prepare students, especially final year students for the demands and dynamic of the world of work.

He urged them to cultivate a mindset of innovation and entrepreneurship, encouraging them to collaborate among themselves to promote their business ideas.

“The digital economy doesn’t care where you come from—it rewards those who think creatively and act boldly,” he added.

The Businessman said every student at the University needed to have a vision for their life and only needed to acquire knowledge to shape that vision.

He said they must exhibit courage to drive that vision and ideas they sought to promote.

“The future belongs to the risk takers and not security takers and if you want to be creative, you need to take bold risk,” he added.

He encouraged the students to consistently save, if they want to build a future for themselves and if they want to be industry-leader, they needed to work more hours.

Mr Agyapong urged the students to stay focused on their drive to do business and exhibit integrity in all their dealings.

Professor Mavis Dako-Gyeke, the Dean of School of Social Sciences, College of Humanities, University of Ghana, said the University continued to bridge the gap between academia and the world of work.

She said this year the aim was to empower their students through thought-provoking dialogue, mentorships and practical industry insights.

“When we do this, we not only prepare students for the world of work, but we prepare them to help transform the world of work,” she said.

The Dean said in line with the University’s Strategic Priorities one and four, which focused on transformative student experiences as well as engagement and partnerships, the event offered a platform where students engage directly with industry experts, stakeholders, and peers.

She said this would enable them to gain real-world insights that shaped the academic and professional world.

These strategic priorities reflect the forward-thinking vision, one that places students at the centre of academic development while actively fostering connections with industry, communities, and global networks, and this conference exemplifies that policy.

She expressed the hope that the presentations and discussions would inspire all students present to delve into the opportunities ahead and transform the insights gained into creative forward-thinking contributions.

Mr Banasco Seidu Nuhu, Executive Director NASCO Feeding Minds, called on the students to acquire essential skills for their personal development.

He said sometimes people were not unemployed, they were just not employable.
