Africa-Press – Ghana. Asante Kotoko have returned to Ghana after securing victory against South African giants Kaizer Chiefs in the 2025 Toyota Cup match.
The Porcupine Warriors secured a 3-2 victory on penalties against Kaizer Chiefs after regulation time ended goalless at the Moses Mabhida Stadium last Saturday.
Despite being dominant in the game, Kaizer Chiefs missed lots of chances, including a stoppage-time penalty kick, as Kotoko held on to edge them on penalties.
Kotoko goalkeeper Mohammed Camara proved to be the hero of the day, having made some crucial saves to give his side victory.
The Asante Kotoko contingent led by head coach Abdul Karim Zito received a rousing welcome at the Kotoka International Airport later on Sunday, with scores of fans lauding their triumph.
The Porcupine Warriors are expected to continue preparations for the upcoming football season and their participation in the 2025-26 CAF Confederations Cup.
