Africa-Press – Ghana. The Krachi East Municipal Assembly, through the Department of Social Welfare, set to distribute items to over 100 Persons With Disaster (PWDs) in the Municipality on August 28.
The items, worth thousands of Ghana cedis are part of the government’s initiative to support PWDs and promote their welfare.
According to Mr. Seth Kumah, Assistant to the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Krachi East, the items are funded by the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF).
He told that, the DACF allocation was an initiative by Ghanaian government aimed at reducing poverty among PWDs by providing financial and material support for economic development, education and healthcare.
He mentioned items such as fufu machines, individuals sewing machines, deep freezers and other essential equipment.
Mr. Kumah revealed that in the past, the fund had not been utilized for its intended purpose, depriving the beneficiaries of its benefits.
However, he revealed commitment about the new leadership of the Assembly, led by MCE, Mr. Safo Nketia, who had identified the problems and assured that the fund will be disbursed accordingly.
The beneficiaries are expected to benefit greatly from the equipment, which will enable them to increase their productivity, efficiency and income generating capacity.
