Africa-Press – Ghana. Mr Abubakar Sedik, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ahafo Ano South West, has called on the Assembly members to rise above partisan and personal interests to discuss issues and make vital decisions for the collective development efforts of the area.

He said the district, which was one of the deprived districts in Ghana, needed the collective efforts of all stakeholders to help build the needed infrastructure to improve the living conditions and the socio-economic lives of the people.

Speaking at the first ordinary meeting of the assembly at Mankranso, Mr Sedik pointed out that the assembly needed the collective efforts of all residents to speed up the development agenda.

He said the assembly collected a total of GHc 840,213, representing 91 percent of its targeted revenue of GHc 923,900 in the year 2024.

The Assembly further received GHc 1,467,501, out of the GHc 1,761,824, which was its share of the District Development Fund.

He said, even though the assembly had not yet received any amount from the projected GHc 93,500 Government of Ghana (GoG) fund to be allocated to the various departments under the Assembly, management could rely on the available sources for targeted development.

He emphasised that the assembly’s share of GHc 18,393, 425 from the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), which had been approved by Parliament would be released upon a successful submission of a budget and work plan for the year 2025, and stressed the need to expedite action on it to pave way for the execution of the 2025 action plan.

Mr Sedik mentioned community engagement with opinion leaders and residents across the district to discuss pertinent issues on development to improve on education, roads, health, economic, infrastructure, Agriculture, Water, sanitation, and sectors as the next plan of action.

He announced his intention to complete the ten infrastructural projects initiated by the previous government for the benefit of the people.

The DCE, however, thanked the house especially, the Assembly members for their overwhelming endorsement, which earned him a 100 percent confirmation in May, this year.

The meeting, therefore, discussed and approved their budget for the next step towards developing the area.
