Africa-Press – Ghana. It is rare for a church to provide financial support to the congregation to cater for their material needs or boost their incomes.
Typically, the onus is on the congregants to raise funds through either offertory or other programmes to help steer the affairs of the church fiscally.
But the Founder and General Overseer of Philadelphia Movement, Stephen Adom Kyei-Duah (a.k.a The Voice of God) has changed the narrative of Christendom in the country.
He has earmarked over GH¢40 million to be distributed to 20,000 cash-strapped congregants across the country.
This has been a gesture by the prophet over the years to support the members as a way of preparing them to experience God’s faithfulness to provide for their material needs.
In 2022, prophet Adom Kyei-Duah gifted the members GH¢86 million and in 2023 he distributed GH¢20 million to enhance the livelihoods of the congregants.
Each beneficiary has received not less than GH¢2,000.00 and this appears to be a life stimulant for most of them as they have promised to use the amount received to expand their businesses.
Section of the beneficiaries speaking in an interview lauded the leadership of Philadelphia Movement for the gesture as they keep displaying the cash and testifying on social media.
Head brother of Philadelphia Movement at Pokuase Katapor in the Greater Accra Region, Emmanuel Cobbina on the other hand described the gesture as requisite to assist the less privileged in society.
He believes it is also a way of showing compassion to believers in Christ as well as encouraging faithful giving among believers to grow in discipleship through faithful stewardship and generosity.
Brother Cobbina challenged the beneficiaries to use the money sagely in helping to sustain their livelihoods.
He likewise encouraged other men of God and churches to emulate the gesture to make Christianity divine and attractive instead of constantly using wily means to demand from church members.
