Africa-Press – Ghana. Mr Eric Edem Agbana, Member of Parliament (MP) for Ketu North, has announced plans for the construction of a modern Sports Complex and Recreational Centre equipped with an AstroTurf pitch in the constituency.

He said the facility, which would be situated at a strategic location, is aimed at nurturing and developing young sporting talents across Ketu North while providing a space for recreation and community engagement.

Speaking during his third-quarter Accountability Series held at Penyi, Mr. Agbana revealed that funding for the project would come from collaborative community efforts.

He noted that the response from residents had been overwhelmingly positive, adding that site plans for the land were already being prepared to pave the way for engineering works.

He further disclosed that the sod-cutting ceremony for the project is expected to take place in the first quarter of 2026, specifically in January, on a 20-acre parcel of land earmarked for the development.

During an interactive session, Mr. Stephen Kuvor Toronto, a sports presenter from Dzodze, asked the MP—who also chairs the U-19 Elite Championship Committee—about efforts to promote young talents in Ketu North apart from the Sports Complex initiative.

In response, Mr. Agbana explained that talent scouting has been ongoing across the Volta Region, with selected players currently in camp in Ho preparing to represent the region in the maiden MTN National U-19 Championship.

Highlighting his contributions to sports development during the period, the MP stated that he had, facilitated opportunities for young football talents from the constituency to participate in the West Africa Football Scouting Session, where four players were successfully selected.

Supported Inter-Zonal and Inter-District sports competitions involving schools from Ketu North. Assisted all four Senior High Schools in the constituency during their participation in the Inter-Schools Sports Festival, proudly hosted by DZOSEC.

Continuously supplied football jerseys and other sporting equipment to schools and communities to encourage active participation in sports.

He concluded by urging all constituents to continue supporting developmental initiatives in the area and to offer prayers for the successful execution of projects that will advance the growth and transformation of Ketu North.
