Africa-Press – Ghana. The National Sports College (NSC), in a push to enhance sports performance in Ghana has graduated about 35 fresh strength and power coaches to crown its training activities for the year.
The three-day course, led by Dr. Kyle Pierce,a senior professor from the Louisiana State University, focused on equipping coaches with the needed skills to build athlete readiness from warm-ups to peak performances.
Mr. Bawah Fuseini, Director General of the National Sports College speaking at the closing ceremony expressed profound appreciation to the lead facilitator for the unwavering dedication and passion demonstrated throughout the program.
“This is not the end of this strength and power course at the college, we will continue to have these professional courses just to enrich coaches and athletes about the various fields in sports,” he said.
He further announced that the college would, in the coming year, introduce two international programmes in sports law and football agency which would both be facilitated by renowned sports experts from Portugal.
Mr. Bawah said the Ministry of Sports and Recreation had given the college the greenlight, hence clearing the path for the introduction of the new courses.
The Director General further congratulated the coaches and urged them to make good use of the opportunities the college offers, inspiring them to excel and leave a lasting mark.
“Don’t look at the number of days you spent here. The quality of the time that you spent is more than the length of time you spent. In other words, the quality of the three days could be more than someone spending 10 years,” he added.
Mr. Emmanuel Appiah, Technical Director, National Sports College also said management, together with key stakeholders were putting in effort to organize series of courses for sports enthusiasts as a way of getting them ready in their respective fields.
He also congratulated the coaches and urged them to apply their newly acquired skills in fulfilling their responsibilities.
Dr. Kyle Pierce, the lead facilitator of the course, expressed his excitement at the high level of engagement demonstrated by the coaches throughout the program
He stated that discussions are ongoing to organize additional courses in partnership with Louisiana State University in the United States.
