Africa-Press – Ghana. Mrs Georgina Osei-Bonsu, representing Mrs Akosua Serwaa Fosu, the alleged lawful wife of the late highlife legend Charles Kojo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, has told the Kumasi High court Five that Priscilla Ofori (Odo Broni) was only a baby mama to the Fosu family.

Testifying under cross-examination by counsel for Ms Ofori, the second defendant, Mrs Osei-Bonsu, said the late musician always wanted to have more children.

She explained that Mrs Fosu, due to her age, could not give birth again, and was aware of her husband’s intentions.

She added that Mrs Fosu only discovered the deceased’s relationship with the second defendant after the birth of her third child with him.

Ms Ernestina Fosu, also called Akosua Bremponmaa, the sister to the late Daddy Lumba and the second witness of the plaintiff, during a cross-examination said she witnessed the civil marriage ceremony between the deceased and the plaintiff in Germany.

She insisted that her late brother did not perform any marriage rite on the second defendant as she would have been aware of such activity because her late brother told her almost everything.

Ms Brempomaa recounted that the late Daddy Lumba always informed her of the birth of the children he had with the second defendant to the extent of naming the third child after her.

“When the first child of the second defendant was born, my brother called and told me that a young lady had borne him a child, but they had nothing, so he asked me to buy some things for them, which I did,” she told the court presided over by Justice Dorinda Smith-Arthur.

Ms Brempomaa also explained that her late brother prevented the plaintiff from frequenting Ghana to visit him due to the high cost of plane tickets, loans to offset and the care of their children.

She said the late Daddy Lumba told her that he and the plaintiff took a loan of €50,000, which, currently, she did not know if it had been paid off or not.

She refuted claims that her brother was brother was bedridden for five to 10 years, stating that although he had underlying health challenges and once underwent spinal surgery, she visited him whenever he informed her of an illness.

Ms Brempomaa said although her late brother publicly portrayed the second defendant as his wife on some occasions, to her knowledge, they were not an officially married couple.
