Police Interdicts Officer in Ablekuma North Assault

Africa-Press – Ghana. The Ghana Police Service has interdicted a police officer who allegedly assaulted a journalist covering the election rerun in the Ablekuma North Constituency.

“We monitored a viral video in which one of our officers is seen assaulting a reporter. The officer concerned has been withdrawn from the ongoing election duty at Ablekuma North,” the police said on Friday.

A news brief issued by Assistant Superintendent of Police, Richmond Mensah of the Police Public Affairs Unit, said the interdiction was in line with internal disciplinary procedures.

The officer had been referred to the Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB) for investigation.

“We would like to assure the public that a thorough Investigation will be conducted into the matter and further updates will be communicated,” the brief stated.
