The tour, which is part of the Regional Minister’s mandate as the President’s Representative for the Region, also aims to acquaint himself with the developmental challenges facing the various traditional areas.

At Lambussie, Kuoro Issaka Zengeh Kazie Tenjie II, the Paramount chief of the Lambussie traditional area outlined the key development needs and recent tribal disputes in the area for their attention.
He said the district faced critical developmental challenges, which was affecting the people, including bad road networks in the district capital and most communities, which affected haulage of farm produce to market centres, farmers, and farm businesses.
The Paramount chief said the district had relatively enjoyed peace for the past decades between the Sissala, the land owners and the Dagaati, and that for about three years now the district had seen serious disputes between the two tribes, which had led to the death of some people while many were also injured.
The chief explained that the situation had made the district volatile and not conducive environment for residents, investors and called on government to intervention to salvage the situation.
“I do not call this a dispute but a rebellion among some Dagaati who want to claim part of Sissala land.
We Sissalas are peaceful people and for that reason, we accept any tribe on our lands, but we do not and will not allow any tribe who settled on our land to disobey our customs and traditions,” Kuoro Kazie emphasised.
He also said, “these disputes do not only affect the district’s social harmony, but also have wider implications in its development and progress.”
You are the Regional Minister, a lawyer, and a father in the region now, so we, the chiefs, and elders of the Lambussie traditional area, are pleading with you to use your office to resolve these tribal disputes in the district.”
He explained that prolonging disputes could erode investor confidence, and that investors preferred a stable environment with a clear and predictable traditional authority structure.
