Africa-Press – Ghana. Some residents in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis of the Western Region, have commended the state for mourning and honouring the memories of the eight departed souls in the tragic helicopter crash with dignity.
Speaking in an interview, they said every event held in their honour across the country after their tragic demise, particularly the state burial, have been done with dignity and pride.
Mr Alfred Quayson, a resident, told that: “Even though this past few days have been difficult times for the country, the state and the government have handled every event held in honour of our eight fallen heroes with some dignity and pride.”
He prayed that the sacrifices of the eight gallant men would rekindle a renewed commitment to the services for which they died for.
He also asked God to grant strength and comfort to the bereaved families for their loss.
Mr Prince Awotwe, another resident, paid tributes to the fallen heroes, saying; “Their stories, legacies, and memories will continue to live with us.”
He, however, called for a thorough and transparent investigations into the crash to help tighten measures to prevent future occurrences.
Dr Edward Omane Boamah, late Minister for Defence, Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, late Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, Dr Samuel Sarpong, late Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, Alhaji Mohammed Minuru Lumuna, late Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, and Mr Samuel Aboagye, a late National Disaster Management Organisation Deputy Director, lost their lives aboard a GAF Z9 helicopter when the aircraft crashed enroute to Obuasi in the Ashanti Region on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.
Late Wing Commander Peter Anala, late Flight Lieutenant Manean Twum Ampadu, and late Flight Sargent Ernest Mensah Addo, were the crew members who also died in the crash.
