Africa-Press – Ghana. The Azukodaana, Naba Atogumdeya Roland Akwara III, Paramount Chief of the Sirigu Traditional Area, has expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for his choice of District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Kassena-Nankana West District.

President Mahama nominated Mr Stephen Aeke Akurugo, a nurse, as the DCE for the District who has been overwhelmingly endorsed by the Assembly members.

Naba Akwara III said the choice of Mr Akurugo reflected the President’s commitment to recognizing and nurturing youthful talents from all corners of the nation for national development.

“The choice also marks a significant milestone for our community, instilling a deep sense of pride and optimism among our people,” the Paramount Chief said in a statement read on his behalf at a press conference.

He said the people of Sirigu were firmly convinced that Mr Akurugo possess the vision, expertise and dedication required to serve successfully and to advance the development of the District.

“We the good people of Sirigu feel honoured that our son has been entrusted with such a vital role, and we are certain that he will serve with confidence, integrity and a vision aligned with your leadership,” Naba Akwara III said.

The Paramount Chief, who is the President of the Sirigu Traditional Council, further expressed gratitude to President Mahama for not abrogating ongoing construction works under the previous administration.

He noted that after the change of government, ongoing construction works on the Bost Culvert linking the Sirigu-Zorkor-Bolgatanga road was allowed to continue and now completed.

“We are happy to announce that vehicles are now using the Sirigu-Zorkor road to Bolgatanga, which is very short, thereby saving the travel time of passengers and referred patients to the Bolgatanga Regional hospital,” he said.

Naba Akwara III added that work on the drainage system in the Sirigu market was progressing smoothly, and further thanked President Mahama for that.

He was hopeful that the drainage project would be completed as soon as possible, saying, “we the good people of Sirigu are extremely thankful to His Excellency for the great honour done us.”

Naba Akwara III also expressed appreciation to Mr Donatus Akamugri Atanga, the Upper East Regional Minister, leadership of the National Democratic Congress, the Member of Parliament for the area, and the chiefs and people for the support given to the DCE.

“We hope that they will further demonstrate sincere goodwill by supporting him in his work to bring about continued peaceful co-existence and development in the district,” he said.
