Africa-Press – Ghana. Mr. Kofi Iddie Adams, the Minister of Sports and Recreation, has paid a courtesy call on the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.

The Minister who was accompanied by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene and officials of Asante Kotoko Sporting Club was at the Palace to express his condolences to the Occupant of the Golden Stool following the tragic death of an ardent supporter of Asante Kotoko during a league match at Nsoatre.

It would be recalled that Nana Yaw Frimpong popularly known as “Pooley” was stabbed to death when Kotoko played Nsoatreman F. C. on February 2 in a match week in a match week 19 encounter.

The untimely passing of Pooley has deeply affected the football community nationwide, prompting the halt of the Ghana Premier League.

Mr. Adams assured the Asantehene of the Ministry’s commitment to seek justice for the late supporter of the club while enhancing security at various league centres to prevent recurrence of the unfortunate incident.

Discussions between the King and the Minister also focused on the state of Ghana football especially the poor performance of the Black Stars in recent years.

Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, a renowned football enthusiast, shared his insights on strategies to revitalise the national teams to reclaim Ghana’s lost glory on the international stage.

Dr. Amoakohene underscored the importance of enhancing security in various stadia to ensure the safety of football fans.
