This is wild & unreasonable propaganda – Annoh-Dompreh on Minority’s 30 slots for enlistment into security claim

Africa-Press – Ghana. The Majority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, has described a claim by the Minority that each New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate has received 30 slots for enlistment into various security institutions as wild and unreasonable propaganda.

In the view of Annoh-Dompreh, the opposition lawmakers are making this ‘wild propaganda” after sensing defeat for their flagbearer John Dramani Mahama in the 2024 general elections.

The Minority had raised concerns about what they perceive as clandestine recruitment of party faithful into the security services by the government.

Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the Minority Leader, alleged during a news conference in Parliament on May 20, that all NPP Parliamentary candidates have been allocated 30 slots each to select NPP loyalists to fill positions within the security services, including the Police and Army.

“Notwithstanding the fact that the Minority raised serious concerns about the criteria adopted by the NPP government to recruit personnel into the security services, it has persisted in taking additional steps in the last few days that we have seen.”

“The NDC Minority can authoritatively state that not long ago, the NPP government again illegally and fraudulently has given out 30 slots to all NPP parliamentary candidates across the country for recruitment into the security services,” he alleged.

Dr. Forson urged President Akufo-Addo and the government to halt what he described as undemocratic behavior. He emphasized the need for transparency and fairness in recruitment processes within the security sector.

The Minority Leader asserted that the Minority in Parliament would remain vigilant and would oppose any attempts to manipulate the upcoming elections.

He reiterated the commitment of National Democratic Congress MPs to uphold the integrity of the electoral process and prevent any actions that could undermine democracy.

But in a post on his X platform, Mr Annoh-Dompreh, also lawmaker for Nsawam Adoagyiri said “The minority after realising that their arrow head,JM will suffer an excruciating defeat soon, have started their wild & ‘unreasonable’ propaganda: majority side given 30 slots in a recruitment(s)… Ato & his colleagues can clearly sense danger( defeat)… Dr Bawumia cometh.”
