Africa-Press – Ghana. The Ghana Trades Union Congress (TUC) has extended its condolences to the President and the People of Ghana following the demise of two ministers of state and six others in a helicopter crash on Wednesday, August 6.
A statement issued by Mr Joshua Ansah, Secretary-General of TUC copied to the Ghana News Agency, said the leadership of TUC and its affiliates received with deep sorrow and shock the tragic news of the military helicopter crash at Adane Sikaman, near Obuasi, in the Ashanti Region, leading to the untimely demise of several distinguished Ghanaians, including ministers of state, government functionaries and military personnel.
It extended the TUC’s heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, namely Dr Edward Omane Boamah – Minister for Defence; and Alhaji Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation.
Others are Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator; Dr Samuel Sarpong, First Vice Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), and Mr Samuel Aboagye, a former Parliamentary Candidate, Obuasi East.
The rest are Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala; Flying Officer Twum Ampadu; and Sergeant Ernest Addo.
“This is a great loss not only to their families and loved ones, but also to the Government and people of Ghana,” it said.
“We honour their dedicated service to the nation and pray for strength and comfort for all who mourn. May their souls rest with the Lord.”
