Africa-Press – Ghana. Ghana’s Black Queens head coach, Kim Lars Björkegren, is hopeful about his team’s short-term success.
The Swedish trainer was appointed the new Black Queens coach a month ago, following the departure of Nora Hauptle, whose contract with the Ghana Football Association last December.
Speaking during a press conference, the highly experienced trainer expressed his gratitude for the opportunity and pledged to work tirelessly to improve the team’s performance as they strive for success.
“I am happy to be here and to be a part of a great country. I have already met good people, including the Sports Minister, members of the GFA, and many others.
“The most important part of my job is to visit the players and watch their games and help them to improve. In football, sometimes you are successful, and the next time things don’t go well, but the most important thing for me and the staff is to work hard to make sure we are successful sooner or later.
“I can see that there is so much talent in this country, and I am sure that we have the potential to be successful in the short term, but I can guarantee in the long term that we will be successful,” he said.
Kim Lars is expected to lead the Black Queens team as they face Morocco in an international friendly match on Friday, February 21, 2025, at the Pere Jego Stadium in Casablanca.
The encounter serves as a crucial preparation for the upcoming Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) tournament in July 2025.
