Africa-Press – Kenya. Kisii School will stage the Kisii County Secondary Schools Sports Association Term One games, County Director of Education Phillip Chirchir has revealed.
The games will be held from March 3 to 6 and will feature hockey, basketball, rugby 15s, handball and athletics. Chirchir directed that all sub-counties conclude their championships by February 28.
The championships will be used to select teams to represent the county at the Nyanza regional championships to be held at Kisumu School from March 17 to 21. Kisumu will also stage the national Term One games from April 5 to 13.
Further, Chirchir said only students born on or after September 1, 2006, are eligible to take part in the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) activities.
All participants’ details must be uploaded to the KSSSA portal.
Chirchir also disclosed that Cardinal Otunga High School, Mosocho, will host the county Term Two games from June 17 to 20, where teams will compete in football, volleyball, netball, rugby 7s, racquet games, basketball 3×3, chess, and scrabble.
The regional games will be held at Homa Bay National School from July 7 to 11, while the nationals will be at MPesa Academy between July 26 and August 2.
At the same time, the KSSSA portal has been reopened for registration of Grade 10 students and will close on February 15.
According to a communique from KSSSA, multi-talented students can be registered in more than one discipline.
However, there will be no registration for Form Three and Four students, as the deadline expired on November 15 last year. Only decathlon and heptathlon participants can be registered, following the late inclusion of the two disciplines in the KSSSA calendar of events.
The registration of students on the KSSSA portal is aimed at weeding out age-cheating and the fielding of ineligible players.
