Africa-Press – Kenya. Teachers Service Commission has replaced the six teachers interdicted from Itumbe DOK primary school in Nyamache, Kisii county. In letters dated February 3, Nyamache Sub-County TSC director James Wanyela wrote to the six, with five being transferred and one a new recruit.
The transferred teachers include James Ocharo, Wilfred Ochenge, Florence Nyabuto, Isaac Osoro and Morara George. Odong’a Obedy was recruited as a new teacher.
“By copy of this letter, both head teachers are required to inform this office and the secretary TSC of the date you are released and received at your new station through a casualty/ appointment return,” part of the letter reads.
On Thursday, the six replaced teachers were directed to vacate the school premises, continue to be away and forfeit their annual leave, with immediate effect.
They include Everline Moraa, William Isoka, Gladys Kenyanya, Moraa Nyairo, Angelicia Joseph and Catherine Moraa. This was after a viral video clip showed them forcing Grade 2 pupils to demonstrate sexual acts.
In the interdiction letters, TSC said such a punishment was a breach of Clause 9 (1) of the Code of Conduct and Ethics for Teachers. TSC invited the teachers to submit their defences within 21 days and indicate the nearest TSC sub-county office where they are expected to report once a month. Earlier on Friday, a Kisii court directed that the six will remain in custody for three days as investigations continue.
