Africa-Press – Kenya. The Junior Starlets player Mollyne Akinyi believes Kenya has what it takes to win the Cecafa under-18 championship on home soil. The women’s championship is set for Nairobi from June 24 and a 40-member provisional squad has been in a residential training camp to fine-tune their preparations.

Having spent a week in camp, the atmosphere is vibrant and the players are brimming with excitement. The training camp has proven to be invaluable for the players, providing them with an environment conducive to learning and honing their skills.

“We have a tremendous opportunity to learn from both our peers and our coaches,” Akinyi, a student at Our Lady of Fatima Secondary School, expressed said.

“Our primary goal is to win this tournament and we are working tirelessly towards achieving that,” she added. The players are also appealing to Kenyans for their unwavering support during the tournament.

Ivy Chepkirui, from Zetech Sparks, urged the fans, saying, “We encourage our fans to stand by us and rally behind us. With their support, we will strive to deliver good performances”.
