Africa-Press – Kenya. Coastal lads, Bandari, rallied from a goal down to pip Kenyan Premier League (KPL) rivals Gor Mahia 2-1in a pre-season friendly encounter at Mbaraki Sports ground, Mombasa on Saturday.
Gor were impressive right from the off and came close to scoring barely two minutes into play when Lloyd Khavuchi’s rasping shot forced Michael Wanyika into full flight.
Chris Ochieng should have fired Bandari into the lead in the fourth minute after he was teed up by Wilberforce Lugogo but he watched helplessly as his effort swivelled wide.
And after a flurry of missed chances, Ugandan forward Peter Lwasa eventually broke the deadlock from the spot when fullback Geoffrey Ochieng was sent tumbling down in the box.
Bandari emerged from the tunnel after the breather looking more dangerous and it wasn’t long before their incessant inroads in the K’Ogalo territory bore the desired fruits.
Kenyan international Andrew Juma scored on the second bite of the cherry after Abdalla Hassan’s initial effort bounced off the hands of hawk-eyed K’Ogalo custodian Dolph Owino.
With barely a quarter of an hour left on the clock, the hosts snatched the lead from the spot through Hassan following an infringement on James Kinyanjui in the penalty area.
