Africa-PressKenya. Newly promoted Kenya Premier League side, Vihiga Bullets intend to sign eight players before the transfer window closes.

Head coach Evans Mafuta said the players are already training with the team and hopes to seal the deals in the next one week.

“I’m happy the league took a three-week international break. This will give me an opportunity to sharpen up the team ahead of our next game. Before our game against Bidco, I had only trained the team for six days and therefore this break is very welcome,” Mafuta said.

He added: “Currently, I’m working on the players’ fitness and mental strength because most of them are playing in the Kenya Premier League for the first time. The team is gelling well.”

Mafuta further added that the barren draw against Bidco United helped him identify weaknesses in the team which his technical bench will work on ahead of their next encounter against Posta Rangers at Thika Stadium on October 15.

The former Nairobi Stima and Silibwet coach, said his side played well against Bidco and would have won the game. “It was a good game but some players suffered stage fright. I’m looking forward to a better game next time,” he noted.

He ruled out dropping any player from the squad that helped the team gain promotion to the KPL.

“Some players have already left and I wish them well in their endeavours. However, those who have remained will get a chance to have a test of the KPL,” added the coach.

The tactician added that he intends to play two friendly matches against fellow KPL sides to gauge his new signings before his next assignment.
