Africa-Press – Kenya. IEBC commission vice chairperson Juliana Cherera has accused chairman Wafula Chebukati of secretly printing the second set of Forms 34A without involving fellow commissioners.
In her replying affidavit to the presidential election petition filed by Azimio leader Raila Odinga and his running mate Martha Karua, Cherera said she witnessed during the printing stage.
She said she was in Greece with another commissioner when she learnt of the new developments.
“On July 21, 2022, when commissioner, Francis Wanderi and I visited Lykos (Hellas) SA visited the printing firm contractor in Greece as part of the delegation composed of among other representatives of the presidential candidates to inspect the printing of presidential ballot papers, we were informed that order had been given for the printing of two sets of form 34A being form 1 of 2 and form 2 of 2,” she said.
Cherera said the form 34A is used for recording the presidential results at the polling centres.
Cherera said various political parties protested the discovery of the second set of documents, boxing the IEBC into calling for a meeting with Presidential candidates to resolve the matter.
The stakeholders resolved to store the second set of documents in a tamper-proof box.
