Africa-Press – Kenya. A police officer has been arrested for allegedly breaking into an OCS office at the station where he is attached and stealing Sh71, 000 cash bail.
Police constable Paul Chege Lore was locked up at Masii police station in Mwala sub-county, Machakos county, on Friday.
The incident was reported at the same station as the arrest of a police officer/ officer breaking and stealing.
“PC Paul Chege Lore of Masii police station has been arrested, placed in custody to answer charges of office breaking and committing a felony contrary to Section 306 (a) of the penal code,” the report seen by the Star read in part.
The suspect, according to the report, while on duty at the report office at around 0700 hrs broke and entered the OCS office at Masii police station.
He broke and entered the OCS table drawers and accessed a cash bail book containing Sh71, 000.
He was also found in possession of two spent cartridges and a teargas canister.
“A search at his house, two 7.62 * 51mm blanks and a teargas canister were recovered. He will appear before Machakos Chief Magistrates Court on August 29, 2022,” the report read in part.
Police have launched investigations into the incident.
