Africa-Press – Kenya. Kenya on Tuesday recorded 249 new cases of Covid 19, from a sample size of 2,572 tested in the last 24 hours.

Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said the positivity rate is now at 9.7 per cent.

Of the cases, 127 are Kenyans while 122 are foreigners. 223 are females and 26 are males.

The youngest is a five-month-old while the oldest is a 100-years-old.

“Total confirmed positive cases are now 334,800 and cumulative tests so far conducted are 3,769,558,” Kagwe said.

The distribution of positive cases by age is as follows; 0-nine years accounted for 20 cases,10-19 years (25), 20-29 years (47), 30-39 years (59), 40-49 years (30), 50-59 years(26), 60 years and above (42).

Kagwe said one patient succumbed to the disease, pushing the cumulative fatalities to 5,657.

The number of patients who recovered in the last 24 hours is 248, with 240 from the Home-Based and Isolation Care Program while eight are from various health facilities countrywide.

This pushes the total recoveries to 325,686 of whom 272,426 are from the Home-Based Care and Isolation program, while 53,260 are from various health facilities.

There are 134 patients currently admitted to our health facilities, compared to the 2,700 under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.

“Four patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), all of whom are on ventilatory support,” the CS added.

Another 22 are in the General Wards and are all on supplemental oxygen.

No patient is in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
