Africa-PressKenya. A top KCSE candidate in Kisii County has received immense support from key political figures pledging to pay her fees after her plight was aired on Citizen TV on Saturday night, September 11.

Janet Isaboke scored grade A of 82 points in the KCSE 2020 exams and was listed as one of the top candidates in the country.

The 17-year-old secured admission to the University of Nairobi (UoN) to pursue a degree in medicine and surgery.

She, however, remained at home due to lack of school fees as her family faced tumultuous times in trying to raise the funds.

Her story was featured on Citizen TV’s prime bulletin, and minutes later, Kenyans of goodwill began pouring their emotion over the plight of the bright student.

Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed requested Isaboke to visit her offices in order to cater for the student’s fees.

Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi stated that he would pay for Isaboke’s first semester fees at the university. Further, Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati added that he would aid in ensuring the student continues with her education.

Isaboke’s family had urged well-wishers to help their kin to pursue her dreams by becoming a medical surgeon.

“She was listed by Education CS George Magoha among the top students in the country with a grade of A. She, however, needs help to continue her education,” her father, Hezekiah Isaboke stated.

The student’s mother, Annah Kwamboka, urged well-wishers to fulfill her daughter’s quest to give back to society once she becomes a surgeon.

“Now that she has secured an admission at UoN, we are appealing to well-wishers to help her achieve her dream,” she stated.

Her former High school principal, Linet Pino Sati of Asumbi Girls secondary school, noted that Isaboke struggled with fees during her time at the school.

“I noticed that Janet was very needy right from Form One. She was not able to pay her fees and in Form One’s third term, during a parents’ meeting, one parent offered to pay for her fees. After that, I took over,” she stated.

Isaboke’s plight symbolizes many students who are unable to continue with their education due to a lack of school fees.
