Africa-Press – Kenya. Treasury CS John Mbadi has revoked the appointment of Seth Panyako as a member of the Local Authorities Provident Fund (LAPF) Board.
The revocation was announced through a Gazette Notice dated January 23, 2026.
According to the notice, the decision was made under section 5(1)(d) of the Local Authorities Provident Fund Act, read together with section 51(1) of the Interpretation and General Provisions Act.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 5 (1) (d) of the Local Authorities Provident Fund Act, as read together with section 51 (1) of the Interpretation and General Provisions Act, the Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury and Economic Planning revokes the appointment of Seth Sindani Panyako as a Member of the Local Authorities Provident Fund Board, with effect from the 23rd January, 2026,” the notice said.
The move formally ends Panyako’s tenure on the board, which had been anchored in Gazette Notice No. 3666 of 2023.
The Treasury CS exercises authority over board appointments as provided for in the enabling legislation.
The trade unionist was appointed to the LAPFUND board by former Treasury CS Njuguna Ndung’u in March 2023.
The Local Authorities Provident Fund Board is responsible for overseeing the management of retirement benefits for employees of county governments and former local authorities.
