Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has maintained that the Opposition anti-government demos will only end when President William Ruto repeals the Finance Act, 2023.
Speaking in Kibra on Wednesday, where he led Azimio supporters in the protests, Sifuna said the demos are not about Opposition leader Raila Odinga but the high cost of living.
He thanked Catholic bishops for asking Ruto to repeal the Act saying it would burden the Kenyans if implemented. “We want to tell President William Ruto that if he does not repeal the Finance Act, 2023, people will not leave the streets,” he said.
He further castigated the government for arresting Azimio leaders without reason. “As we speak, we still do not where Embakasi East MP Babu Owino is,” he said. He asked the government to stop what he termed as the selective use of police.
