Africa-PressKenya. Homicide detectives retrieved CCTV footage from the late slain Olympic star Agnes Tirop’s home on Saturday, October 16.

The detectives stated that the footage would be vital in unraveling the motive of the murder.

They, however, did not share the footage with the media.

Saturday marked the third day since investigation into Tirop’s demise was launched with detectives interviewing more persons of interest who they believe may have been involved in the murder.

Tirop was found dead at their Iten Elgeyo Marakwet home on Wednesday, October 13. The prime suspect in the murder is her husband Ibrahim Rotich.

Rotich was arrested in Changamwe, Mombasa County on Thursday, October 14 while fleeing to a neighbouring country.

“The suspect is currently being grilled by detectives at Changamwe police station, for more details into the murder before being arraigned to answer to murder charges,” reads an excerpt of the DCI statement.

Neighbours told journalists that the 25-year-old and her husband had protracted domestic disputes. Rotich will be arraigned in court on Monday, October 18.

Autopsy and funeral arrangements are expected to be conducted next week.

“Tirop wanted to participate in the marathon one day. We always encouraged each other and so I always told her that everything was possible,” Tirop’s fellow athlete stated.

The star athlete had just become a world record holder last month after winning the 10km road race. She clocked 30:01 during the Adizero Road to Records event in Herzogenaurach, Germany.
