Eldas MP Keynan dismisses Eastleigh businesses fraud claims

Africa-Press – Kenya. Eldas MP Adan Keynan has dismissed claims that some malls in Eastleigh were developed through illegal money from Minnesota.

On Sunday, January 4, ex-DP Rigathi Gachagua alleged that some malls in Eastleigh were developed through illegal money from the US.

Gachagua, who spoke at the AIPCA church in Githunguri, Kiambu County, also claimed that the owners are connected to influential local politicians.

In a statement on Tuesday, Keynan described the allegations as false and politically motivated.

He said the malls were developed on land lawfully acquired in 2009, initially hosting a smaller establishment.

Keynan called the allegations “reckless” and expressed concern that such claims could inflame ethnic tensions.

The MP urged the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) to investigate the statements and consider appropriate legal action.

He also called for a public retraction and apology from Gachagua.

On Monday, Trade Cabinet Secretary Lee Kinyanjui criticised Gachagua for calling on the US government to intervene in Kenya over the Minnesota fraud case.

Kinyanjui said such calls risked creating unnecessary international tension.
