Africa-Press – Kenya. Family of a Kenyan security guard who died while on duty at Qatar’s Lusail Stadium now demand answers. John Njau’s mother, Grace Nyambura in an interview with CNN said she wants to know the exact cause of her son’s death as he was loved and cared for back home.

“He used to tell me, mum, you helped me while I was jobless, I want to help you as much as I can, I know you pray for me,” Nyambura said.

She said she wants to know what really happened. Njau, 24, was admitted to an Intensive Care Unit before dying on Monday. In a statement, the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy said Njau suffered a serious fall while on duty on Saturday, December 10.

Stadium medical teams immediately attended the scene and provided emergency treatment before Njau was transferred to Hamad Medical Hospital’s intensive care unit via an ambulance.

“We regret to announce that, despite the efforts and the medical team, he sadly passed away in hospital on Tuesday, December 13, after being in the intensive care unit for three days,” the statement read in part. He is the second migrant to die during the 2022 World Cup.
