Africa-Press – Kenya. Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has said he respects the decision of the Supreme Court in upholding the victory of William Ruto as the president-elect.

In a statement released on Monday, Kalonzo however disagreed with the court’s findings.

“Even though I do not agree with its findings, I respect the decision of the court. The course for justice and the fight for democracy in our nation remains a continuous journey and process,” he said.

Kalonzo said it was ludicrous that the apex court rubbished the evidence and issues presented by the Azimio lawyers, deeming them as fabricated.

The former Vice President said the fight for a free and fair election is not over.

“Kenyans are resilient people and although divided right in the middle, owing to the tight contest, by God’s grace we shall prevail,” he added.

Earlier, both Raila Odinga and his running mate Martha Karua also released statements honouring the court’s verdict.

They too, however, said they cannot agree with the court’s ruling.

Azimio and six other petitioners had gone to court challenging the IEBC presidential election results declared on August 15.

The apex court in a unanimous vote came to the decision that Ruto was validly elected as President.

The IEBC chairperson Wafula Chebukati declared Ruto the winner after he garnered 7.1 million votes while Raila Odinga garnered 6.9 million votes.
